Xaria Coleman

Who is she?

Xaria is a comedian, actor, and filmmaker from Austin, Texas. As a Black queer woman navigating predominantly white comedy spaces, she learned how to adapt while carving out space for her own unique voice and perspective.

Her work often blends dry humor with emotional honesty, exploring themes like mental health, coming of age, race, and identity. She isn’t afraid to talk about difficult topics, but always does so with a comedic lens that invites both laughter and reflection. Her style leans into the existential and sometimes nihilistic, but is always grounded in real experiences.

She has performed in countless improv shows, written and acted in sketch comedy, web series, and small theater productions. Her improv teams have received local recognition, including best troupe awards, and she has trained at the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York.

In 2024, she wrote and directed her first short film, which is currently in post-production. She is a student in the Austin Film Society’s Creative Careers Program, where she is continuing to grow her skills and expand her creative network. She is passionate about creating films and collaborating with other artists in her community. Through her work, she hopes to make people laugh, think, and feel seen.
